Biography
Jillian Bommarito is the Co-founder and Chief Risk Officer of 273 Ventures and serves as Executive Director and Head of Governance at the ALEA Institute. With nearly 15 years of experience in diligence, compliance, and risk management across highly-regulated industries, she specializes in helping organizations navigate the governance challenges of emerging AI technologies.
Jillian was among the first cohort of auditors to be certified as AI Auditors in 2022—before ChatGPT was released. She holds Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) designations from the IAPP for both the United States and Europe, and maintains a CPA license in Michigan.
At 273 Ventures, Jillian oversaw the training of the world's first "Fairly Trained" large language model, which was subsequently open-sourced through the ALEA Institute. Her work focuses on ensuring AI systems are built ethically and in accordance with legal standards.
She earned her Master of Accounting from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan, and has published research in law reviews, textbooks, and mainstream media outlets.
